This estimate assumes the entered power and electricity price stay constant during the scheduled operating hours. It covers FFU electricity only.

How the estimate works

Electrical energy is power multiplied by operating time. Express the combined FFU input power in kilowatts, multiply by the scheduled hours, then multiply energy use in kWh by the electricity price per kWh.

Combined power (kW) = power per FFU (kW) × FFU count
Annual energy (kWh) = combined power (kW) × hours/day × days/year
Annual cost = annual energy (kWh) × price per kWh

For example, 20 FFUs drawing 150 W each have a combined input power of 3 kW. At 12 hours per day for 300 days, they use 10,800 kWh per year. At USD 0.15/kWh, the estimated annual electricity cost is USD 1,620. These numbers illustrate the arithmetic, not a standard FFU specification or tariff.

What this estimate includes

The result covers FFU electrical input at a constant power draw and a single energy price. Actual FFU power can differ at other speed settings, airflow rates, pressure conditions, and filter states. A measured or supplier-confirmed power value at the intended operating point will make the estimate more useful.

  • Use the total electrical input per FFU, including its fan and controls where those are part of the stated unit power.
  • If the FFUs have different speeds or schedules, calculate each group separately and add the results.
  • Demand charges, time-of-use tariffs, taxes, maintenance, cooling load, and other cleanroom equipment are outside this estimate.
